What will be covered in this E-Commerce Business Starter course?

In only 12 hours you will learn:

Branding & business basics

This covers some important first steps you’ll need such as your business structure, registering for an ABN & GST, trademarks and IP. We’ll also run through some important branding components you might consider, such as a logo and brand name.

Building a Shopify website & securing your domain

Shopify is an ‘off-the-shelf’ website builder specialising in e-commerce (i.e. selling online). Importantly, it requires zero coding and is therefore fantastic for all skill levels. Rest assured, you will still come out with a fantastic website that will help you sell online, regardless of your previous web experience. Brands such as Kookai, Koala Mattresses and JB Hi-Fi are all built on the Shopify platform. We will spend a significant portion of the course teaching you how to use the platform.

SEO basics

We’ll implement all best-practice SEO tools and techniques to help you maximise your new Shopify website. We’ll run keyword research for your product or industry, implement on-page SEO basics and address key considerations for any e-commerce store (e.g. backlinks, page speed and image compression).

Digital advertising (Google Ads, Facebook & Instagram)

You can have the best website in the world but it’s pointless unless you have visitors on there! This topic provides step-by-step instructions on how to run profitable ad campaigns across paid search and social media. This includes Facebook and Instagram ads, Google Shopping and search ads, automated product feeds, Facebook pixel and google ads conversion tracking installation. If that sounds super complicated – don’t worry, we’ll run through it and it’s actually much easier than people think.

Fulfilment + logistics

We’ll show you how to set up automated fulfilment systems so you can pick and pack orders and get them into the hands of your customers, both here in Australia and around the globe.

Conversion rate optimisation & Analytics

Step 1 is getting people to your website. Step 2 is getting them to buy! Conversion Rate Optimisation comprises a myriad of techniques designed to grow the percentage of web visitors that buy as well as grow the average order value (AOV). We’ll also help you to understand key web metrics to understand and improve your store.
