Explore different mediums of narrative story-telling: creative non fiction, in particular short non fiction stories; fiction: short stories and novels. Also look at travel writing, blogging and flash fiction. This course will help you to explore the premise that you want to write about and how to launch into a short form story or novel. Get inspired as you learn about the benefits of writing and how to create a routine to write.

Introduction to the course. What we will be exploring in each class. Why write? Benefits of writing. How to create a routine to write. Creative non fiction: explore the form of short non fiction stories as a good place to start writing.

Intended audience
Who is this creative writing course for?
This course is designed for beginners: to start you off writing. It is also helpful for people who have started writing but need inspiration on how to continue.
You will be asked to share some of the work that you write in class. Whilst this is optional, it is encouraged.
It is not a technical workshop. The tutor does not critique the work, only listens to your work for the purpose of encouragement. Novel-writing is discussed in terms of how to begin and launch yourself. There will be a focus on character development and how the character drives the plot. However, a detailed analysis of plot and novel structure is not given.
