Drip Cake & Florals Cake Decorating Course

Learn how to make a drip cake with fresh flowers with our cake baking & decorating courses in Sydney!
Discover how to decorate a drip cake with this cake decorating course. On this course, you will spend your Saturday learning to layer and ice a 6-inch vanilla butter cake, then topping it with your own sculpture of fresh flowers, chocolate leaves and sweets to take home. This beginner's class will give you all the tips and skills to smooth and decorate your own naked drip cake masterpiece at home, to create cakes for birthdays and other special occasions. As well as leaving with your own drip cake, you'll also have some invaluable creative tips for achieving that professional finish using low-cost tools and equipment found in most kitchens.
All ingredients, tools and a take-home cake box are included in the course fee.

Course content
What will be covered in this cake decorating course?
- Cut and layer your cake for straight edges and a flat top
- Naked sides effect using buttercream
- How to make a caramel glaze (correct consistency) for the drip
- Applying (and controlling) the drip effect
- Making white chocolate leaves for edible decoration
- Composition and placement of fresh flowers, sweets and leaves on top
- Finishing and presenting a 6-inch vanilla butter cake to take home
Learning outcomes
Following this Drip Cake & Florals course, you should be able to:
- Prepare a layered cake for decoration
- Create a 'naked sides-effect' cake using buttercream icing
- Make a caramel glaze to top your cake
- Apply and correctly control the drip effect of the glaze
- Create your own floral cake-topping edible decoration
- Curate the cake topping for a beautiful presentation
- Put the finishing touches to your cake, and take it home!
