Travel writing has a long and distinguished history and today is a flourishing genre, with the digital age providing increased opportunities for travellers with a literary bent to publish their personal travel experiences online. But while there’s never been more demand for travel writing, there’s also now plenty of competition. Whatever form you want your travel writing to take: blog, magazine article or book, you need to be equipped with the skills and knowledge to set your writing apart from the pack.

In this class, you will learn how to research and structure your story, provide detail to bring your story to life, look at trends and how to write for newspapers, magazines and blogs. You will be inspired by the greats of contemporary travel writing, get plenty of hands-on practice with in-class exercises and gain valuable insight into what it takes to be a travel writer.
