Improve your work skills by learning to use Microsoft Excel with our Microsoft Office training courses in Sydney!

Microsoft Excel is an industry-standard spreadsheet software. It is part of the Microsoft Office Suite and is the most common programme used across a variety of commercial applications. If you would like to learn how to construct and manage data using Microsoft Excel in Sydney, then this course is for you.

This entry-level Microsoft Excel course in Sydney will increase your value in the job market and help you gain valuable insights into whatever data you choose to work with. Using Microsoft Excel, the user can identify trends by assembling data from various sources and can streamline tiresome tasks. Upon completion of the Level 1 course, students can progress to our Microsoft Excel Course: Level 2.

Getting Familiar with Excel

  • Understand how Excel works
  • Recognise and work with the Excel environment
  • Use Excel’s Ribbon to access commands
  • Use shortcut menus and the Quick Access toolbar to easily perform actions
  • Add command buttons to the Quick Access toolbar

Creating a New Workbook and Work with Existing Workbooks

  • Understand the structure of a workbook
  • Create a new workbook with text, numbers, dates and formulas
  • Edit data, view and understand the impact on formulas
  • Open existing Excel workbooks
  • Use Recent files and folders to locate Excel workbooks easily
  • Navigate in the workbook using different techniques
  • Run the Spell Checker

Edit, Select, Copy and Move in a Workbook

  • Learn different techniques to edit formulas
  • Use undo and redo
  • Examine the difference between delete and clear cells
  • Learn how to select ranges, including cells that are adjoining and non-adjoining
  • Copy and move cells using various methods
  • Understand the different effects that move or copy will have on formulas
  • Use the fill feature to perform quick copying

Formulas, Functions and Formula referencing

  • Understand and create formulas that add, subtract, divide and multiply
  • Use Excel’s predefined functions to add, average and determine the highest and lowest number
  • Create more complex formulas
  • Use and understand Absolute versus Relative cell referencing
  • Examine and understand the effect on formulas when formulas are copied

  • Use font formatting techniques such as bold, indent, colours and format painter

Who is this Microsoft Excel course for?

This course is designed for students looking to upskill and is suitable for beginners with no prior knowledge of Microsoft Excel. However, a basic understanding of computers is assumed to ensure a smooth learning experience.

  • This class is taught in a Windows and macOS environment. We have available 8 Windows and 6 Apple Mac computers. We do not reserve computers for students so arrive early if using a certain type of machine is important to you.
