Course description
Learn the foundations of wheel throwing with our pottery courses in Sydney!
In this hands-on, fun 3 week pottery & ceramics course, you will be introduced to throwing, trimming and glazing techniques.
We will take you through the different steps of wheel throwing methods such as centring, opening, and pulling and shaping your pottery. You'll also learn how to plan and execute trimming excess clay from the bottom of your pottery.
As a final step, you will learn how to decorate your pottery. Come with a readiness to learn and to get your hands dirty, and you will go home with a beautiful piece designed and made by yourself.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this wheel-throwing course, you should be able to:
- Use the pottery wheel
- Centre, open and pull your clay
- Trim your pottery
- Use underglazes and glazes to decorate your pottery

Who is this wheel throwing course for?
This course is for absolute beginners or those with a minimal working knowledge of ceramics.

Parking
Please note, there are 2 hours of free street parking on Hayberry Street, a 1-minute walk from the studio, available, as well as 2 hours of free parking at Woolworths across the street from the studio.

Additional information
Please note the following:
- Please don’t wear your best clothing! Clay will wash out, but it’s better to wear some older clothes
- If you have long hair, please tie it back
- Wear closed-in shoes
- Nails need to be trimmed
- You will need to return a week after the last class to collect your pieces. You will be able to discuss this with your teacher
