We will explore various subject techniques and cover the fundamentals of tone, colour, form, and perspective through Still Life, Portrait, the Human Figure, and Landscape. Suitable for beginners to intermediate levels, the course is intended to help you develop your own personal style.
Whether you are an absolute beginner or have some painting experience, you will enjoy our structured acrylic painting course led by our professional artist. If you are new to acrylics, you will learn about materials and techniques, composition, colour mixing, and how to transform a drawing into a completed painting, starting with sketching your ideas.
The goal of this painting course is to nurture your creative potential and painting style through expressive acrylic techniques. Designed for ongoing growth, students are encouraged to re-enrol as often as they like to continually enhance their painting skills. Sessions are tailored by your teacher to accommodate all levels of experience within the group.

Course content
What will be covered in this Acrylic Painting Course?
- Use acrylic paints to create watercolour effects and impasto to add texture.
- Choosing, using and looking after your tools – brushes and supports
- Colour theory and mixing plus an exploration of the expressive and descriptive use of colour
- Exploring Still Life, Portrait, Human Figure, and Landscape techniques.
- Compositional elements using colour, tone, positioning, perspective and painting techniques
- A look at paintings, both modern and traditional, for their structural and expressive elements
- An assessment of our own personal style and how to develop it more fully
- Finding interesting subject matter to explore and interpret
