Gouache Painting for Beginners
Learn to paint beautiful pictures using gouache with our painting short courses in Sydney!
Learn how to paint with gouache, a versatile and highly expressive medium known for its vibrant colour and distinctive matte finish. Often described as “opaque watercolour,” gouache allows artists to build layers, create bold highlights, and achieve a velvety surface that sits between watercolour and acrylic.
In this practical course, you will explore how gouache works on its own and in combination with other media. You will learn foundational techniques, experiment with materials, and develop confidence painting a variety of subjects, including landscapes, still life, and wildlife.
Along the way, you will be introduced to influential artists and approaches that demonstrate the range and flexibility of gouache, helping you understand when and how to use this medium effectively in your own work.
