Led by our skilled and enthusiastic jeweller, students will be guided through safe jewellery-making techniques. You'll gain hands-on experience with various tools and equipment used in silver jewellery making, acquiring fundamental techniques to kickstart and develop your skills.
The focus of the lesson will be on crafting your own ring from brass or copper, employing techniques such as metal cutting, ring forming, soldering, and texturing—all taught during the class. This workshop is perfect for those interested in trying out silver jewellery making before committing to a full silver jewellery course.

Course content
What will be covered in this silver jewellery workshop?
In this 3-hour workshop, we will cover:
- Health & Safety
- Metal cutting
- Ring sizing
- Ring forming
- Texturing
- Soldering – using torches you learn how to anneal and solder to join the metal together
- Polishing and Finishing – how to file, use emery paper and get the perfect shine
- Basic silver jewellery skills – setting you up for a great start!
Intended audience
Who is this silver jewellery workshop for?
This workshop is open to everyone curious about metalwork - no prior experience is required.
Please note that is course is not suitable for students under the age of 18 years.

2A Gordon Street, Rozelle NSW 2039 (corner of Gordon St & Victoria Rd on the grounds of St. Joseph's Church)

Materials provided
- Basic copper
- Basic brass
- Silver studio equipment
* If you would like to work with silver this can be purchased on the day from the front office.
What to bring to class
- An apron to protect your clothes
Additional information
Please note the following:
- Please wear closed-in shoes and long hair must be tied back
- Other silver materials can be purchased from Palloys
- Limited supplies of silver and saw blades are available to purchase from the College. If you need more detailed information about the silver supplies at the College, please call 02 8752 7555.
- All our silver jewellery courses are limited to 8 places which enables the tutor to give each student plenty of one-to-one guidance and instruction.
