Sculptural Random Weaving Workshop

RDWS_1

Learn how to make striking natural artwork with our weaving short courses in Sydney.

Join sculptor and fibre artist Cherry Corr for a fun, hands-on class where you’ll learn to twist and shape your own random weave creations using natural and garden-foraged materials.

All materials for this class are sustainably collected from local plants, including palm inflorescence from the Bangalow Palm and Cocos Palm, along with other common garden waste. Using just a few simple tools, easy-to-learn techniques, and a touch of clever engineering, you’ll create sculptural, functional forms that celebrate the beauty of nature.

This relaxing and rewarding course is perfect for anyone wanting to reconnect with natural materials, explore a meditative handcraft, or learn a sustainable artform rooted in tradition.

Join us for a day of tactile creative play, and take home a unique woven vessel and artwork that holds space in your home.

Course testimonials:

  • Mandy said: I enjoyed this class in so many ways; Cherry was a great teacher who generously passed on her wonderful skills with ease, clarity and joy.

  • Julie said: the tutor was welcoming and generous in every way.

  • Marielle said: What a great class! Highly recommend for beginners and non-beginners alike. Cherry is an artist - her creativity and technical experience were inspiring. I learnt so much in the single day workshop and had a great time (and came away with 2 beautiful and very unique sculptural creations!). We also got to take some natural materials home, so I was able to make another 2 baskets in my own time (which I plan to gift to my friends). Cherry taught us about suitable materials we can gather around the home and garden (specific plants and other recyclables or "waste" materials like textiles and certain plastics), and how to prepare and store them. Thank you for a fantastic day, Cherry!
