Course content

This children’s wear course covers:

  • Introduction to children’s wear: safety, comfort, and design considerations.
  • Fabric and pattern selection: choosing materials suitable for babies, toddlers, and kids.
  • Working with ready-made patterns: how to adapt for skill levels.
  • Project work:
    • Baby swaddles, throws, and beanies.
    • Head bows, caps, and accessories.
    • Simple dresses, skirts, shirts, and pants.
  • Sewing techniques: seams, hems, closures, and finishes for durability.
  • Personalisation: trims, applique, and design flourishes.
  • Tips for fit, scaling up, and adapting patterns as children grow.
