Classes are designed for adults of a similar ability, giving you the confidence to learn at your own pace while enjoying the social side of the game.

What will be covered in this Beginners Tennis Course?
During the course, participants will be guided through key concepts, techniques and approaches that typically include:
- Tennis grips and racquet control
- Forehand, backhand, serve, and volley techniques
- Footwork, movement, and court positioning
- Rallying and ball control
- Match-play drills and game situations
- Tennis scoring and rules
- Beginner playing strategies
- Fitness, coordination, and agility exercises specific to tennis
Content may vary slightly depending on class pace, participant interests, and instructor approach.
What will be covered in this Beginners Tennis Course?
- Participate and practice in group-based tennis drills, games and technique changes.
- Learn & practice the correct grips & techniques for the forehand, backhand, serve & volley.
- Be introduced to the ready position, backswing, swing to the ball, contact, follow-through and recovery.
- Rally the ball backwards and forwards over the net with other players.
- Develop footwork, movement and recovery on the court for all strokes.
- Learn the scoring system, rules of tennis and how to put these together to play a proper scoring game.
During your course, the intention is that the above topics will be covered but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the flexible nature of Adult classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.
Who is this Beginners Tennis Course for?
This course is ideal for adults with little or no previous tennis experience who would like to learn the game in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Whether you're looking for a fun way to stay active, develop a new skill, or build the confidence to join social tennis, this course provides an enjoyable introduction for beginners of all fitness levels.

What to bring to class
- A tennis racquet (or borrow one free of charge during class)
- Comfortable sports clothing
- Tennis or running shoes
- Water bottle
- Hat for daytime classes
Tennis racquets are also available for purchase at the venue if required.
Please note the following
- If a class is cancelled due to wet weather, you'll receive an SMS at least one hour before the scheduled start time. If you do not receive a cancellation message, your class will proceed as planned.
- Cancelled classes will be rescheduled for the same day and time the following week, subject to availability.
- Attendance is across consecutive weeks at the same day and time. Missed classes cannot be transferred or rescheduled.
- Classes typically have between four and six participants.
- Please arrive 10 minutes before your first class (or 5 minutes early for subsequent classes).
- Participants must arrive on time to ensure they receive the safety briefing and warm-up at the beginning of each session.
