Marianne Cannon began studying Certificate III in Horticulture at Ryde Tafe in 1995, while she was also teaching Television Production full time at North Sydney TAFE. She went on to study for a Diploma of Horticulture, which she completed with Distinction in 2002. 

In 2006 Marianne worked as a researcher for Better Homes and Gardens on the gardening segment with presenter Graham Ross. She now has her own gardening radio show and has been broadcasting as Real World Gardener on radio 2RRR 88.5fm since September 2009. 

Working as an Education Officer at the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens for several years, Marianne has always wanted to provide a show with an educational focus. This idea came to fruition with Real World Gardener, a gardening show with many segments covering all aspects of gardening and horticulture.
