Learn the ancient tradition of Origami with our handcraft short courses in Sydney!

Immerse yourself in the delicate Japanese art of paper folding and discover the therapeutic benefits of origami in our Origami Workshop. You'll learn about the history and cultural significance of origami, and create your own origami objects to take home with you.

Beyond the artistry, origami offers a meditative experience, promoting mindfulness by engaging in a creative, non-judgmental practice that encourages self-expression, cultivates patience and concentration, and provides a calming focus on the present moment. 

In this engaging and hands-on workshop, you'll master the art of origami, beginning with the basic folds and gracefully progressing to more intricate techniques. Our experienced tutor will guide you through each fold as you craft an array of captivating paper creations.

You'll create your own paper treasures, including a jewellery box made from Japanese paper, as well as a unique greeting card featuring origami artwork.

Learning outcomes

  • Create custom origami greeting cards for any occasion. 
  • Discover how to use different types of paper and decorative elements to make each card unique.

Who is this origami workshop for?

This workshop is for absolute beginners and does not require any prior knowledge. It is perfect for anyone who has an interest in origami, who is keen to try a new craft, or who would like to learn a new mindfulness technique.

What to bring to class

Please bring the following:

  • A pen and paper, to make notes
  • A 30cm ruler, if you have one
  • An empty, clean cardboard milk carton (1litre) if you have one (the College has spares if not)

All other origami materials are provided.
